SUMMER IDEAS FOR YOUR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT

While lounging by the pool and hanging with friends all summer is probably what your high school student had in mind... make sure they are being productive as well! Here are 4 ideas.

Work Or Get An Internship

Having your student get a part-time job or internship will not just teach them hard work, but it will also look great on their college applications and future resumes.

Volunteer

Speaking of college applications and resumes, it is imperative your student log some volunteer hours. There are tons of local volunteer opportunities. If they love animals check out P.E.T.S., they take volunteers 16 years of age and older. United Regional takes student volunteers and would be great for a student interested in nursing. The Boys & Girls Club also accepts volunteers. Local nursing homes love for students to come and visit with the residents. There are so many choices!

Visit Colleges

If you have a student headed into their senior year, take this summer to go visit some colleges (try not to cry too much😉). College tours can help your student narrow down their choices and also be a good road trip to get some quality time in this summer!

Sports Camps/Summer Camp

Sports and summer camps keep your student active while making new friends. They will also either be learning new skills or practicing their skills further. There are a huge variety of camps, so you can definitely find one for your students interests.

Do you have another goal for your child to accomplish this summer? Let us know! Oh yeah, make sure to let them have some fun, too!
