Hello BISD community! In an effort to improve energy efficiency and safety the windows throughout our 6th grade wing at the Burkburnett Middle School are in the process of being replaced. The windows were ordered a few months ago and have been delivered and are currently being installed. Each classroom has three banks of windows with one window bank containing an "operable" window that can be opened from the inside in emergency situations for students to evacuate. The manufacturer had an issue with the components of the "operable" window resulting in a safety issue, therefore they are not able to ship the window bank containing the "operable" until the issue is resolved. Until we receive the window bank containing the "operable" window that opening will remain boarded up. The classrooms affected by this will still be utilized for class. Two thirds of the window openings will have the new banks of windows in them. it will only be the bank that has not been delivered that will remain boarded up. We appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our facilities and the learning environment for our students.
