🎉 Today we celebrate Juneteenth! 🎉
On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom, marking a pivotal moment in American history. Juneteenth represents the triumph of liberty, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward equality and justice for all.
As educators, we recognize that learning about our shared history—including both its challenges and its celebrations—helps us build a more inclusive and understanding community. Today we honor the strength and contributions of African Americans throughout our nation's story.
We encourage our students, families, and staff to take time today to learn, reflect, and celebrate together. Education and understanding light the path forward.
Happy Juneteenth! ❤️

Bulldog family:
In the spirit of transparency I wanted to update you on why we had to repost our baseball head coaching job today.
We hired an individual two weeks ago, who called yesterday at one o’clock to inform me he would not be able to come due to personal reasons. This is not a common occurrence in Texas coaching circles, I have only heard of something like this happening one time in my career.
Today I reopened our search for the head baseball job. As we tell all our athletes- life is 1% what happens to us and 99% how we react.
I feel very confident we will be able to find a high quality, high character coach capable of leading our Bulldog baseball teams forward at a high level. You will be hearing very soon who that coach who is excited to become a Bulldog is.
Coach Patrick Williams
Athletic Director

Welcome to Boomtown ISD, Mrs. Richards!
Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Netalie Richards, who will be teaching 5th Grade at John G. Tower Elementary for the 2025-2026 school year!
Mrs. Richards brings impressive educational credentials to our district, with a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master's in Educational Administration from Texas A&M International University, which she earned in 2023. Her teaching experience spans several districts including Denton ISD, Northwest ISD, and Granbury ISD.
"Teaching is more than a job to me, it's my calling," shares Mrs. Richards. "I became an educator because I truly believe every child deserves a champion. I want to be a light in my students' lives and cheer them on as they grow, learn, and become all they're meant to be."
When she's not in the classroom, Mrs. Richards enjoys a variety of activities. "You'll likely find me baking something sweet, spending time at church, running the toddler rodeo, enjoying special moments with family and friends, shopping, or planning an event," she says. She's also an entrepreneur, owning a boutique called "Giggles&Grace."
As a coach's wife, Mrs. Richards is excited about the upcoming football season. "I can't wait to spend Friday nights cheering on my husband and the Bulldogs this football season!"

Welcome to Our BISD Family!
We're delighted to introduce Shayla Honeycutt, who will be joining Burkburnett High School as a paraprofessional! As a Burkburnett native and BISD graduate herself, Shayla brings a special connection to our district and community.
In her free time, Shayla enjoys "spending lots of time with family and friends, going on cruises, and singing karaoke."
Shayla's passion for supporting students shines through in her reasons for becoming a paraprofessional: "I believe whole heartedly every student deserves love, support, encouragement, and individualized attention to become successful in and out of the classroom." She also shares that she "enjoy[s] collaborating with teachers to create a positive and fun learning environment," adding that "seeing every child succeed either in a small or a big way, reminds me why I do what I do, and I enjoy every minute of it."
What makes Shayla's arrival especially meaningful is her deep connection to our community. As she explains: "I was born and raised in Burkburnett and attended BISD. It brings so much joy to my heart being able to give back to my community and school." And as Shayla proudly states, "Once A Bulldog Always A Bulldog!"
Please join us in giving Shayla a warm welcome back to BISD – this time as a valued member of our educational team!

Welcome to Our BISD Family!
We're thrilled to introduce Joy McCleskey, who will be joining our teaching team for her 9th year in education! Joy brings with her a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
Joy earned her B.S. in Composite Science with Secondary Certification from Midwestern State University, graduating in May 2017.
When asked about her personal interests, Joy shared: "In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends; this is a huge part of who I am. I'm also actively involved in volunteering with my church, which allows me to give back to my community in meaningful ways. Additionally, I love reading and baking, which help me unwind and stay creative."
Joy's journey to becoming an educator is truly inspiring. As she explains: "I have always been drawn to the idea of becoming an educator, but it truly clicked for me in college while tutoring fellow students. I found immense joy in watching their understanding grow and their confidence build as they grasped challenging material." This early experience led her to volunteer as a lab assistant, where she discovered that "helping students learn and succeed has since become a deeply fulfilling part of who I am."
Looking ahead to her time with us at BISD, Joy says she's "excited to join BISD and work alongside a team of educators who share my passion for teaching. I also look forward to building relationships with the students and supporting their growth both academically and personally."
Please join us in giving Joy a warm welcome to our district family!
