Our BHS Unified Track Team is headed to Regionals! Join us in celebrating their hard work! They compete on Monday, April 15th at Waco Midway High School. A big shoutout to our amazing coaches and sponsors for their support. It's their commitment that fuels our team's success!

At last night's School Board meeting, we were able to honor some of our amazing Teachers and Staff. We recognized our Campus Teachers of the Year. These outstanding educators were selected by their peers and colleagues as their much-deserving representatives for their respective campuses. The Teachers of the Year for 2024 are: IC Evans: Brittany Boyd John Tower: Amber Reitz Overton Ray: Rachel Moxley Burkburnett Middle School: Robin McAdams Burkburnett High School: Robyn Little Gateway Accelerated Academy: Tiffany Gunnels We also recognized a couple of our other departments. Our Transportation Dept announced our dedicated Bus Driver of the Year, Maddison Hickman. We also honored the leadership team in our Child Nutrition Department for passing our major audit with no issues! Those honored were Child Nutrition Director Deb Welch and her two main assistants Pam Cravens and Rosalinda Dominguez. All of these employees and colleagues are the epitome of The Bulldog Way, and we couldn't be the district we are without them.

There will be no school Friday, March 29th and Monday, April 1st. These days are designated as bad weather make-up days on the school calendar. Please join BISD in celebrating our amazing School Board. We will recognize them tonight at our regular Board meeting at 7:00 pm. Collectively, our Board has 70 years of combined service to BISD and the Community of Burkburnett. Five of our Board members have gone above and beyond and have completed the training required to become a Master Trustee. Being a School Board member is oftentimes a thankless position, but we truly value the dedication and commitment our Board has shown over the years. They are Bulldogs through and through and exemplify The Bulldog Way! We say "Thank You" to Board President and Master Trustee Keith Myers, Board Vice President and Master Trustee Robin Bachert, Board Secretary and Master Trustee Les Healton, Board Member and Master Trustee Terry Klipp, Board Member and Master Trustee Frank Andrajack, Board Member Doug Smith, and Board Member Jimmy Beeson.

BISD has received the highest rating a school district can get through the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, scoring a perfect score of 100!!

This is a reminder that our Unified Flag Football game will take place at 6:30 PM this Friday right before our home football game against Alvarado. Get to the game a little early so you can support our Unified athletes!

The BISD track will need to be locked down Monday morning through Thursday morning this coming week. The track resurfacing company will be back to stripe the lanes on the track. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

BISD would like to request help from our fans at our football games. We ask that you please pick up your trash and throw it into one of the many trashcans in the stadium. The stands were left in pretty bad shape after last Friday's game. We appreciate your attention to this at both home and away games, as we do not want to leave trash at anyone else's stadium either. Thank you!

The first phase of the track restoration has been completed. We will open the track to public use beginning today. The second phase will be the striping of the track. That will take place in the next few weeks. We will need to close the track again for that. Please keep dogs, bikes, and cleats off the track to help keep it in good shape. We thank you for your patience and support!

BISD will be resurfacing our track beginning the end of this week. Our track is due for this routine maintenance in order for us to host track meets. Unfortunately, we will need to lock down the track for public use during this project. We appreciate the public's understanding.

During this legislative session, our legislators have an unprecedented amount of additional funding to allocate. As with all businesses, the cost of doing business as a school district has skyrocketed. We need our legislators to make a statement of support this session for the 5.5 million students we educate in Texas schools, and for the over 400,000 school system employees! Increase the basic allotment and fund pay increases.
