Welcome to Our BISD Family! We're delighted to introduce Shayla Honeycutt, who will be joining Burkburnett High School as a paraprofessional! As a Burkburnett native and BISD graduate herself, Shayla brings a special connection to our district and community. In her free time, Shayla enjoys "spending lots of time with family and friends, going on cruises, and singing karaoke." Shayla's passion for supporting students shines through in her reasons for becoming a paraprofessional: "I believe whole heartedly every student deserves love, support, encouragement, and individualized attention to become successful in and out of the classroom." She also shares that she "enjoy[s] collaborating with teachers to create a positive and fun learning environment," adding that "seeing every child succeed either in a small or a big way, reminds me why I do what I do, and I enjoy every minute of it." What makes Shayla's arrival especially meaningful is her deep connection to our community. As she explains: "I was born and raised in Burkburnett and attended BISD. It brings so much joy to my heart being able to give back to my community and school." And as Shayla proudly states, "Once A Bulldog Always A Bulldog!" Please join us in giving Shayla a warm welcome back to BISD – this time as a valued member of our educational team!

Welcome to Our BISD Family! We're thrilled to introduce Joy McCleskey, who will be joining our teaching team for her 9th year in education! Joy brings with her a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. Joy earned her B.S. in Composite Science with Secondary Certification from Midwestern State University, graduating in May 2017. When asked about her personal interests, Joy shared: "In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends; this is a huge part of who I am. I'm also actively involved in volunteering with my church, which allows me to give back to my community in meaningful ways. Additionally, I love reading and baking, which help me unwind and stay creative." Joy's journey to becoming an educator is truly inspiring. As she explains: "I have always been drawn to the idea of becoming an educator, but it truly clicked for me in college while tutoring fellow students. I found immense joy in watching their understanding grow and their confidence build as they grasped challenging material." This early experience led her to volunteer as a lab assistant, where she discovered that "helping students learn and succeed has since become a deeply fulfilling part of who I am." Looking ahead to her time with us at BISD, Joy says she's "excited to join BISD and work alongside a team of educators who share my passion for teaching. I also look forward to building relationships with the students and supporting their growth both academically and personally." Please join us in giving Joy a warm welcome to our district family!

🌟 WELCOME TO THE BISD FAMILY, TIFFANY JAMES! 🌟 We're delighted to introduce another wonderful addition to our Burkburnett ISD team! Tiffany James joins us as a special education paraprofessional at I. C. Evans Elementary for the upcoming school year, bringing her passion for education and dedication to helping students achieve their full potential. When she's not at school, Tiffany enjoys reading and cherishes time spent with her husband and two children. Her journey into education is truly inspiring - as a mother of a child with autism, she's witnessed firsthand the incredible joy and reward that comes from helping young minds learn and grow. Tiffany chose to become a paraprofessional because she wanted to make a meaningful difference in children's lives. She shares, "Watching my daughter learn and accomplish things is the most amazing and rewarding experience, and I wanted to help other kids reach those same goals." As she begins her journey with BISD, Tiffany is looking forward to creating strong bonds and friendships with both her colleagues and students at I. C. Evans Elementary. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Tiffany James! #BISDProud #WelcomeToTheTeam #MakingADifference

📚 WELCOME TO THE BISD FAMILY, PAYTON MCKEE! 📚 We're thrilled to introduce one of our newest educators joining Burkburnett ISD! Payton McKee, a proud 2020 BISD graduate, is returning home to inspire the next generation of Bulldogs as an English teacher at Burkburnett High School! Payton will graduate from Midwestern State University this May with a degree in Secondary Education, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome her to our teaching team. When not in the classroom, Payton enjoys taking her dogs on long walks, baking delicious treats, and traveling - a passion ignited during her study abroad experience in London, England! Payton is also planning her future with her wonderful fiancée, and we're delighted they've chosen to make Burkburnett their home. Payton's dedication to education stems from her desire to make meaningful connections with students and make learning relevant to their lives. She believes teachers have a profound impact on their students and is committed to making that difference every day. As a BISD alumna, Payton is especially excited to return to the district that shaped her and to give back to our community. She looks forward to inspiring students and fostering a love for English alongside our incredible staff. Last week we surveyed our elementary staff and elementary parents to see if they would be willing to add 10 minutes (5 min in the a.m. and 5 min in the p.m.) to the elementary bell schedule for the rest of the year beginning next Monday so that all students could get Good Friday (April 18th) off. The surveys had overwhelming support for this. This does not effect the secondary bell schedules as they are already longer. So, we will have April 18th off. See Calendar attached. Elementary parents: This does not alter any other part of the school day. The drop off times for parents in the morning will not be changed to an earlier time, but kids need to be at school no later than 7:40.
