BURKBURNETT, Texas – Burkburnett High School senior Raegan Bradbury has been selected as a finalist for Operation Homefront's National Military Child of the Year Award, earning the opportunity to compete with military-connected students from across the nation.
This prestigious recognition places Raegan among an elite group of semifinalists aged 13-18, from which Operation Homefront will select seven winners—one to represent each branch of the U.S. military.
"Raegan's kindness, compassion, strong work ethic, and selfless leadership shine in everything she does," Burkburnett ISD shared. The senior has demonstrated exceptional dedication by taking numerous dual credit classes to advance a grade level while volunteering countless hours to serve her community.
"She represents military children with grace, resilience, and heart, and we could not be more proud of her," said Nicketta "Nikki" Osborn, S2S Coordinator for Burkburnett ISD.
Raegan's selection continues a proud tradition for Burkburnett ISD. The last Burkburnett student to receive this honor was Ashtyn Belanger in 2021, who advanced to the finals.
If selected as a winner, Raegan will be flown with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C. April 21-24, 2026, to be recognized at the Military Child of the Year Awards Gala. Recipients receive $10,000 each, a laptop computer, and additional sponsored gifts. The gala is held during the Month of the Military Child, recognizing the sacrifices and resilience of military families.
The entire Burkburnett ISD community celebrates Raegan's remarkable achievement and wishes her the very best as she continues in this prestigious competition.
Congratulations, Raegan!
