Attention Incoming 7th Grade Families: Make sure your student is ready for the 2026–2027 school year by scheduling their required Tdap and Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccinations.
For students entering 7th grade in the 2026–2027 school year, immunization requirements include a Tdap booster (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine (MCV4/MenACWY).
These vaccines are important for protecting adolescents from serious illnesses that can spread in school settings and are typically administered between the ages of 11 and 12.
Required Vaccines for 7th Grade
Tdap Booster
One dose is required for all students entering 7th grade.
This booster is often needed if five or more years have passed since the student's last tetanus-containing vaccine.
Meningococcal Vaccine (MCV4/MenACWY)
One dose is required to help protect against meningococcal disease, including meningitis.
The vaccine must be administered on or after the student's 11th birthday.

Mrs. McWilliams earned a master’s degree from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas Wesleyan University.
Throughout her career, Mrs. McWilliams has served in a variety of educational roles, including paraprofessional and substitute teacher at Burkburnett High School, adjunct professor and teaching fellow at the University of North Texas, and program director and classroom teacher in the DFW area. She has also spent many years as a private vocal and dramatic instructor.
Mrs. McWilliams chose a career in education because it combines her passion for creativity, structure, and meaningful connections with students. Drawing from her background in music and special education, she thrives on creating engaging learning experiences and helping students discover their strengths. She finds great joy in witnessing the moment when a student gains confidence, masters a new skill, or realizes their potential.
As she joins the BMS family, Mrs. McWilliams is excited to serve as a Life Skills teacher and continue supporting students in a district she knows and loves. As a Burkburnett resident and longtime member of the BISD community, she values the district’s commitment to excellence, respect, and student success. She is especially inspired by BISD’s Unified program and looks forward to contributing to a culture that fosters belonging, teamwork, and achievement for all students.

Two of our UIL contest recordings—El Espiritu de Valencia and Through the Storm—have officially advanced from the Region level to the Area Competition in the Outstanding Performance Series (OPS)! 🎺OPS is a direct competition between other bands across the state of Texas. Advancing past the Region judges is exciting!
🏆 What’s Next?
Area judges will now evaluate the performances. The top bands from this round will advance to the State level this July. I will post the Area results as soon as they come in. Way to go, Band! I am so incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication! ❤️
