Mrs. Baretta's ELAR classes have been engaged in a Paired Poetry and Fictional Text unit. Students analyzed the figurative language of the poem "The Rose That Grew From Concrete", then illustrated the poem in full to express their connections to the author's life, word choice, and imagery. Students then completed round table readings over several days of the classic novel "The Outsiders", each taking turns in reading sections. Finally, students engaged in discussions about the similar themes between the poem and text, to include striving for opportunities, social class divides, and making deeper personal connections to the texts.

Mrs. Wickline's 7th grade math class played a game of Grudge Ball where they interpreted and compared data from dot plots, box plots, and circle graphs to review for their upcoming unit test.

We are extremely proud of the BMS Bands for their outstanding achievements. Both the Concert and Symphonic Bands participated in the Region 7 UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest on Tuesday at Legacy High School in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The BMS Concert Band earned a Superior (1st Division) rating for their concert performance and an Excellent (2nd Division) rating in sight-reading.
The BMS Symphonic Band received Superior (1st Division) ratings in both the concert performance and sight-reading portions of the contest. Additionally, the Symphonic Band earned a 1st Division rating from every judge, securing the Sweepstakes Award—the highest honor awarded at the contest. This achievement marks the 18th consecutive year that the BMS Symphonic Varsity Band has earned this distinction.

The BMS Symphonic Band earned a Sweepstakes Award on Tuesday at the Region 7 UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest. Students received a 1st division from all six judges!! This is the 18th consecutive year of receiving Sweepstakes Awards! CONGRATS BAND!! We are so very proud of you!!

BMS Concert Choir welcomed Mr. Jimmy “Rob” Robertson today as their clinician. Mr. Rob is from Naaman Forest High School in Garland, ISD. The students worked intensely today as they complete their preparation for next week’s UIL Concert & Sightreading assessment. Mr. Rob was very complimentary of our students and affirmed the work they have done. We are so appreciative of him coming all this way to visit and work with our students.

Congratulations to the BMS Concert Band for their performance at UIL Concert and Sightreading. The three judges on stage gave us straight 1's and in sightreading we got a 1, a 2, and another 2.
This was one "1" better than our result last year which makes this the highest results for this group in decade.
Please give them a hearty congratulations! Well done band!

Q: The ballot says “This is a property tax increase”, but the district is saying the new tax rate will actually be below the current level. How so?
A: In 2019, a new law for school districts was imposed in Education Code 45.003(b-1), which adds an additional sentence to the ballot proposition: "THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE" The Texas Attorney General said this statement cannot be modified. Fact: Should both propositions pass, the District will be able to levy a tax rate below the current tax rate.

After having technical difficulties this morning, Mrs. Yeary, Mrs. Welch, and Ms. Raeke improvised. Students were given a story starter and limited amount of time. After the timer, students turned their papers into paper snowballs. Students then pick up another student’s paper and added to their story. This continued until stories were completed.
