7th grade Science students tested how various temperature of water (hot, warm, room temperature, and ice cold) affects the Rate of Dissolution by predicting and testing how long it would take for a piece of fruit-flavored candy (the solute) to completely dissolve in various temperatures of water (the solvent) into a colorful, homogeneous solution. Students patiently waited, recorded their individual trial times, charted the overall results, and then calculated all trial results to determine an average Rate of Dissolution per temperature. Students also added in agitation (stirring) and breaking up pieces (surface area) to speed up the process. The results were colorful and smelled delicious!

Dr. Owen will be live on our Burkburnett ISD Facebook page on Wednesday, October 8th at 12:10 PM. If you have any questions for Dr. Owen, please ask them here 👇 in the comment section below in advance, and he will address them live. Please keep all questions focused on policies, processes, or facilities at the district or campus level. Dr. Owen will not be answering any questions about specific personnel or student situations. Dr. Owen will give a district update and then answer your submitted questions. Dr. Owen will end the huddle with a live Q & A that will allow you to ask questions in real-time.

Please note the daytime scheduling: Dr. Owen is filming during school hours so that our video students can benefit from this hands-on learning experience. If you can't watch live, you can always catch the replay! We hope you will take the time to join in on these huddles and we hope you find the information and format beneficial.

Mrs. Yeary's classes are completing question trails today to review figurative language in famous songs and novels. Each answer leads students to the next question. If they get one wrong, they might just get stuck in the loop of doom!
