Ms. Madison, our library para, was passed the BARK Award by Mrs. Denson today. Staff members recognize each other's brilliance, ambition, reliability, and kindness (Bulldog Basics!) by passing the award to each other. Mrs. Denson had a group of Overton Ray cheerleaders help her celebrate Ms. Madison with a cheer created just for her! 🧡 Here is what Mrs. Denson had to say about Ms. Madison: In school whether you are a staff member or a student, it’s so important to surround yourself with positive people you can learn from, lean on, and trust for advice and encouragement. For me, that person is Ms. Madison. She is what I would call a marigold, someone who naturally uplifts, supports, and protects the people around her, helping them grow and thrive. So, for all the ways she helps others bloom, it is my honor to present the BARK AWARD to Ms. Madison!

Last week Mrs Johnston’s fourth grade class participated in a group activity to practice addition of large numbers with regrouping. They had to check to see if their answers were reasonable by using estimation. Teams had to discuss their solutions to see if rounding to different place values made checking for reasonableness easier.

The Bulldog Basics are the everyday behaviors that reflect the values of the Bulldog Way.

Take a moment to recognize a Burkburnett ISD staff member for positive practices, kindness, or dedication you've witnessed. Your words of encouragement can make a lasting impact. Each recognition will be printed on a certificate and presented to the staff member as a meaningful reminder of the difference they make. Please contribute one recognition for each submission.

Use this link to make a submission. https://forms.gle/diJsqD6ENp86615H7

By choosing kindness, honesty, respect, responsibility, perseverance, and supporting one another, our staff helps create a positive and welcoming school culture. When we practice these principles every day, the Bulldog Way comes to life in our classrooms, hallways, and throughout our community.

Bulldog Basics Tenets
1. Treat others with kindness.
2. No matter the circumstances, always be honest.
3. Clean up after yourself.
4. Try your best, even when it is difficult.
5. Acknowledge each other in appropriate ways.
6. Be teachable/coachable.
7. Respectfully stand up for what you believe in, while respecting others' comments, opinions, and ideas.
8. If you see a friend struggling, let an adult know.
9. Find the good in others and speak it.

Mrs. Shannon White would like to pass the Golden Bulldog on to Mrs. Brianna Denson! She is rocking her first year in her own classroom! I love how she creates an inviting, engaging space where students feel safe to branch out with their writing. She always has a smile for everyone, and her enthusiasm is contagious!

This week, Ms. Stewart's class has been learning about the three states of matter: solids, liquids, and gases. We wrapped up our learning with a hands-on balloon experiment that allowed students to see and experience these concepts in action. 🎈🧪 Our students had fun making predictions, exploring the materials, and working together while putting their science learning into practice!
