Burkburnett High School is not only getting it done in multiple extracurricular activities, our High School has now repeated as District Champions in the UIL Academic Meet.
In BISD, we work hard to produce well-rounded graduates who are ready to succeed in whatever future they choose, and that begins in the classroom with high-quality instruction. Winning the District UIL Academic Championship in back to back years is evidence of the effort our students and teachers are putting in. Congratulations to the following students who placed in their respective events. And thank you to the UIL Academic Coordinator Pam Francis and to all of the other HS teachers who coached kids and helped pull this event off.

At last night's School Board meeting, we were able to honor some of our amazing Teachers and Staff. We recognized our Campus Teachers of the Year. These outstanding educators were selected by their peers and colleagues as their much-deserving representatives for their respective campuses. The Teachers of the Year for 2024 are: IC Evans: Brittany Boyd John Tower: Amber Reitz Overton Ray: Rachel Moxley Burkburnett Middle School: Robin McAdams Burkburnett High School: Robyn Little Gateway Accelerated Academy: Tiffany Gunnels We also recognized a couple of our other departments. Our Transportation Dept announced our dedicated Bus Driver of the Year, Maddison Hickman. We also honored the leadership team in our Child Nutrition Department for passing our major audit with no issues! Those honored were Child Nutrition Director Deb Welch and her two main assistants Pam Cravens and Rosalinda Dominguez. All of these employees and colleagues are the epitome of The Bulldog Way, and we couldn't be the district we are without them.

Brynn Biggs and Dr. Christina Gushanas from the Student-Centered Texas Transition Network paid a site visit to Burkburnett High School on March 22. They had the opportunity to learn more about our transition and work experience programs. They also visited several of our students at their job sites to learn more about their work and the skills and knowledge they are learning through their employers. We would like to offer a special thank you to our students who participated, our teachers, paras, and staff who work tirelessly to assist our students in growing their skills and knowledge, as well as Burkburnett Meals on Wheels, Tractor Supply, and Ruben’s House of Classics for welcoming our visitors and letting our students share their job experiences with them. Also, thank you to Coach Barnes and the Bulldog Bistro for providing lunch!

Attention current 6th grade parents - mark your calendars! BMS will be hosting a vaccine clinic put on by Wichita County Public Health Department on May 2nd from 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm. This is a great opportunity for students to get required vaccines for 7th grade. Please contact our BMS Nurse with any questions.

There will be no school Friday, March 29th and Monday, April 1st. These days are designated as bad weather make-up days on the school calendar. Since we did not have to use them this winter, they are now surplus minutes and converted into days off. If you need a copy of the calendar, you can find it here: https://5il.co/1pqi8
