Dr. Owen will be LIVE on our Burkburnett ISD Facebook page Monday, May 11th at 12:20 PM. If you have questions for Dr. Owen, please ask them here in the comment section below in advance, and he will address them live. Please keep all questions focused on policies, processes, or facilities at the district or campus level. Dr. Owen will not be answering any questions about specific personnel or student situations.

Dr. Owen will give a district update and then answer your submitted questions, and will end the Bulldog Huddle with a live Q & A that will allow you to ask questions in real-time.

Please note the daytime scheduling: Dr. Owen is filming during school hours so that our video students can benefit from this hands-on learning experience. If you can't watch live, you can always catch the replay. We hope you will take the time to join us!

Join us in welcoming elementary teacher, Zayda Walker, to Burkburnett ISD!

Zayda Walker earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Education and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University, graduating in 2022 and 2023. She has four years of teaching experience, working with both Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students, where she has developed a strong passion for early childhood education and fostering a love of learning in young learners.

Growing up in a home centered around learning and childcare, Mrs. Walker was inspired at an early age to pursue a career in education. Her mother ran an in-home daycare, giving her firsthand exposure to how children learn and develop. This early influence, combined with her participation in a high school career-in-education program solidified her desire to become an educator.

Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Walker enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as her two dogs, Tootsie and Peaches. She loves staying active by playing golf and pickleball and has recently taken up Mahjong. She also enjoys crafting, being outdoors, and shopping.

As she begins her journey as a teacher at John G. Tower Elementary, Mrs. Walker looks forward to being a part of the Burkburnett community, and building strong relationships with her students and their families.

BISD and the Board of Trustees would like to say a big THANK YOU to our community and to our supporters who live outside of Burkburnett for voting to pass our bond propositions. In order for school districts to thrive and provide kids with the best educational experiences possible, you have to have a community that buys in and shows up when needed. Great schools don’t exist without a great community. We are blessed to have that here in Burkburnett in a big way!

Thank you to our community group who worked hard to determine the projects to be included in the bond. And thank you to Josh Andrajack and all his personal efforts on the bond.

Our kids will benefit from this bond election in many ways for years to come. In turn, those same students will benefit the community of Burkburnett when they graduate.

Again, from all of us in BISD and from the School Board, we say THANK YOU!!

BISD students have been hard at work on their end-of-year projects. They were so excited to share with family and friends.

Because of their experience with project learning this year, some of our youngest Bulldogs stated that they have learned more about team work, finding solutions with peers, and feel better about speaking in front of their class during presentations.
