🎉 Today we celebrate Juneteenth! 🎉 On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom, marking a pivotal moment in American history. Juneteenth represents the triumph of liberty, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward equality and justice for all. As educators, we recognize that learning about our shared history—including both its challenges and its celebrations—helps us build a more inclusive and understanding community. Today we honor the strength and contributions of African Americans throughout our nation's story. We encourage our students, families, and staff to take time today to learn, reflect, and celebrate together. Education and understanding light the path forward. Happy Juneteenth! ❤️ #Juneteenth #Freedom #Education #Community #History #Celebration

New State Law on Electronic Devices (HB1481). In accordance with House Bill 1481, all student electronic devices (including Apple Watches) will be required to be powered off and put away while on any campus during the instructional day. This includes passing periods and lunch. We will be providing additional guidance and expectations specific to each campus as the school year approaches. Please look for communication from campus principals via email and social media regarding this new law and policy, as well as for other back-to-school activities. Again, this is state law and all school districts across the state are having to implement the exact same policy.

📣 Please join us in welcoming Shayla Riggs to our I.C. Evans family! Shayla is joining our team as a paraprofessional and brings both enthusiasm and heart to our campus. In her own words, she chose this role because "I've always been passionate about helping people grow and succeed." Shayla values "giving back to a district that's supported my family so well." When not in the classroom, Shayla enjoys "reading, crafting, and singing," but her favorite creative outlet is "baking!" She loves "making fun, themed cakes" which she describes as "my favorite form of art and a sweet way to celebrate the people I love!" And yes, she's already admitted to being "very excited about the dress-up days!" 😊 Welcome to Boomtown, Shayla! Welcome to Our Evans Elementary Family! We are thrilled to introduce Kaylie Skinner, who will be joining our Pre-K teaching team at I.C. Evans Elementary for the upcoming school year! Kaylie is already a familiar face at Evans as an instructional paraprofessional, and we're excited to have her take on this new role. Please join us in welcoming her to our teaching staff! University Name: Midwestern State University Major: Applied Arts and Sciences Graduation Date: December 2021 I am currently an instructional paraprofessional at I C Evans Elementary. I work with students in Tier 3, offering specialized, one-on-one or small group instruction to address their specific needs with reading and math. Before this job, I was a substitute for Burkburnett ISD for two years. I enjoy spending time with my family. We like to ride bikes, go on walks to the park, and swim during the summer. I also like to watch my children play sports. I am a loud and proud cheerleader for my kiddos! GO Gremlins and Hooks!! I didn't always know that I wanted to be an educator. It wasn't until I had my oldest son that I realized I had a calling to work with children. I knew that being a teacher was not for the faint of heart, so I decided to work for BISD for a few years to make sure it was really what I wanted to do. I now know for a fact that I have found what I was meant to do. I have loved creating relationships with my students and challenging them to reach their full potential whether it's academically, socially, or emotionally. I'm looking forward to helping my Pre-K students discover their interests and develop their full potential next year! I am a Burkburnett High School graduate and my children are third generation Bulldogs. I am proud to be from Burkburnett and I am grateful for the primary and secondary education I received from this little town. I had more than a handful of wonderful teachers who guided and inspired me to be the person I am today. I look forward to teaching for BISD with ambitions of passing that same positivity, love, and desire to learn to my future students. Welcome Kaylie!!! #BISDProud #WelcomeToTheTeam
