Welcome to Our BISD Family!
We're delighted to introduce Shayla Honeycutt, who will be joining Burkburnett High School as a paraprofessional! As a Burkburnett native and BISD graduate herself, Shayla brings a special connection to our district and community.
In her free time, Shayla enjoys "spending lots of time with family and friends, going on cruises, and singing karaoke."
Shayla's passion for supporting students shines through in her reasons for becoming a paraprofessional: "I believe whole heartedly every student deserves love, support, encouragement, and individualized attention to become successful in and out of the classroom." She also shares that she "enjoy[s] collaborating with teachers to create a positive and fun learning environment," adding that "seeing every child succeed either in a small or a big way, reminds me why I do what I do, and I enjoy every minute of it."
What makes Shayla's arrival especially meaningful is her deep connection to our community. As she explains: "I was born and raised in Burkburnett and attended BISD. It brings so much joy to my heart being able to give back to my community and school." And as Shayla proudly states, "Once A Bulldog Always A Bulldog!"
Please join us in giving Shayla a warm welcome back to BISD – this time as a valued member of our educational team!

Welcome to Our BISD Family!
We're thrilled to introduce Joy McCleskey, who will be joining our teaching team for her 9th year in education! Joy brings with her a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
Joy earned her B.S. in Composite Science with Secondary Certification from Midwestern State University, graduating in May 2017.
When asked about her personal interests, Joy shared: "In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends; this is a huge part of who I am. I'm also actively involved in volunteering with my church, which allows me to give back to my community in meaningful ways. Additionally, I love reading and baking, which help me unwind and stay creative."
Joy's journey to becoming an educator is truly inspiring. As she explains: "I have always been drawn to the idea of becoming an educator, but it truly clicked for me in college while tutoring fellow students. I found immense joy in watching their understanding grow and their confidence build as they grasped challenging material." This early experience led her to volunteer as a lab assistant, where she discovered that "helping students learn and succeed has since become a deeply fulfilling part of who I am."
Looking ahead to her time with us at BISD, Joy says she's "excited to join BISD and work alongside a team of educators who share my passion for teaching. I also look forward to building relationships with the students and supporting their growth both academically and personally."
Please join us in giving Joy a warm welcome to our district family!

Burkburnett Bulldogs Dominate Bridgeport 14–0 on Senior Night
The Burkburnett Varsity Baseball team closed out their season in spectacular fashion on Monday night, routing Bridgeport 14–0 in a game that also honored seniors Brodie Hagle and Caden Cope.
Brayden Marsh led the Bulldogs’ offensive explosion, going 3-for-3 at the plate and driving in four runs, including a towering three-run homer in the first inning. The Bulldogs wasted no time taking control, putting up a huge bottom of the first that set the tone for the game.
Caden Cope kicked off the scoring with an RBI double, followed by fellow senior Brodie Hagle’s two-run double. Cooper Riley then launched a three-run home run to left field, and Marsh capped off the inning with his own three-run blast.
On the mound, Seth Hoyle was untouchable. The left-hander threw five no-hit innings, striking out 12 and allowing no runs while walking four. His dominant performance secured the shutout and a statement win to end the season.
The game was a fitting send-off for seniors Hagle and Cope, who made big contributions on their special night and helped power the Bulldogs to a memorable season finale.
