Dear Parents/Guardians,
This is to inform you about a change to the price of school lunches for the upcoming school year, effective August 13, 2025.

Due to rising costs for food, utilities, and supplies, the price of a school lunch will be adjusted by $.25. The new price for a school lunch will be $4.00. This decision was made after careful consideration.

Breakfast will remain free to all students in Burkburnett ISD.

The school remains committed to providing children with healthy and nutritious meals that support their learning and well-being, according to the USDA Food and Nutrition Service. School meals continue to be a convenient and healthy option for students, featuring balanced meals with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and the right balance of many nutrients.

Free or reduced-price meals are available for eligible students, and families are encouraged to apply. Applications are available through Skyward, school campuses, and at the Child Nutrition office. The link is also below.

Thank you for your understanding and support of the school meal program.
Sincerely,
Stacey Jones
Director of Child Nutrition

🎉 Today we celebrate Juneteenth! 🎉 On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom, marking a pivotal moment in American history. Juneteenth represents the triumph of liberty, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward equality and justice for all. As educators, we recognize that learning about our shared history—including both its challenges and its celebrations—helps us build a more inclusive and understanding community. Today we honor the strength and contributions of African Americans throughout our nation's story. We encourage our students, families, and staff to take time today to learn, reflect, and celebrate together. Education and understanding light the path forward. Happy Juneteenth! ❤️ #Juneteenth #Freedom #Education #Community #History #Celebration

New State Law on Electronic Devices (HB1481). In accordance with House Bill 1481, all student electronic devices (including Apple Watches) will be required to be powered off and put away while on any campus during the instructional day. This includes passing periods and lunch. We will be providing additional guidance and expectations specific to each campus as the school year approaches. Please look for communication from campus principals via email and social media regarding this new law and policy, as well as for other back-to-school activities. Again, this is state law and all school districts across the state are having to implement the exact same policy.

📣 Please join us in welcoming Shayla Riggs to our I.C. Evans family! Shayla is joining our team as a paraprofessional and brings both enthusiasm and heart to our campus. In her own words, she chose this role because "I've always been passionate about helping people grow and succeed." As a mom who's experienced BISD firsthand through her own children, she's "excited to be part of the school community that's played such a big role in my own kids' education." Shayla values "giving back to a district that's supported my family so well." When not in the classroom, Shayla enjoys "reading, crafting, and singing," but her favorite creative outlet is "baking!" She loves "making fun, themed cakes" which she describes as "my favorite form of art and a sweet way to celebrate the people I love!" And yes, she's already admitted to being "very excited about the dress-up days!" 😊 Welcome to Boomtown, Shayla! We're thrilled to have you as part of our educational family. #BoomtownProud #WelcomeToTheTeam #ICEvansElementary
