Selflessness. It's what we teachers get to witness daily. Let me tell you about it. 2nd grader Braylen and another student got to choose a ball and both had their hands on the same ball. Braylen said, "You may have it." 3rd Grader Max 's squad won for squad points this 6 weeks and Max let everyone else in his squad go first to choose a prize. 2nd Grader Charli did the same this morning, by letting others choose a prize before herself. Charity and kindness at its finest here at our awesome John G. Tower Elementary!

Kindergarten has received many Valentines Cards from all across the USA! ❤️ Our students faces light up each time we get a card! 🥰 If you would like to participate and send us a valentines card please mail them to the address below: John G Tower Kindergarten 5200 Hooper Dr. Wichita Falls, TX 76306

Breakfast and lunch menu for February 2025.

Spending time with Officer Deason is always a popular choice when it's time to redeem Dojo reward points. Here are the pictures of the students who have chosen this option over the past couple of weeks.

Shoutout to these Kindergarten students! They earned a certificate for passing 25 lessons on iReady Math and Reading. Yay! 🎉

Students in some of our 3/4th grade PE classes were given a Beef Lovin' Texans cookbook last week and were challenged to make one of the healthy dinners with their family. (Some have not gotten it yet due to the snow days.) I told the students they could send me a photo if they cooked something healthy from the cookbook, and I would post on our school fb page. Here is Brooklyn, who cooked Confetti Beef Tacos! Brooklyn said she used grass-fed beef and low-carb soft tortillas in her recipe. Here is Daniel, who is cooking Easy Baked Beef, Bean and Corn Quesadillas!

Monday is a school holiday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.
Enjoy your 3-day weekend!

If you are already getting the itch to spring clean, please save those older towels and blankets for S2S's upcoming Towel and Blanket drive. We would love to shower our local animal shelters and rescues with towels and blankets for their use.Â

BISD would like to say "Thank you" to our amazing School Board. January is School Board Appreciation Month and we are truly Blessed to have the School Board members we have.
Being a School Board member is oftentimes a thankless volunteer job. But our Board members view it as a true act of service to our students, staff, and community. Their vision has set BISD up for success and we could not be more appreciative of them.

Over the morning announcements today, we told the students that THEY are allowed to participate in the Polar Plunge! One detail is: a parent or guardian must jump WITH them! The details are right here, and it costs $25 (all proceeds benefit Special Olympics and BISD Unified) for students and $40 for parents. A lot of people dress up in costume to plunge! Here are the details if your child comes home and asks you to do the "Polar Plunge!"

Sweet Athea "voted" for who she wants to do the "Polar Plunge" on January 25th! Only two teachers will get to "plunge," according to how much $$ is in their bucket! We have told the students that all monies collected will benefit Special Olympics and the BISD Unified program! We would love for you to send some dollars or change for this worthy cause this week! Buckets will be in the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch for 1 week!

MAKE A MEMORY!! Here are the details for Freezin' for a Reason, and another way to participate!! If you and your family members/friends would like to sign up, that would be amazing! All proceeds benefit Special Olympics and Burkburnett Unified. If your child wants to jump, the parent must jump with them, to clarify! $40 for adults/$25 for youth. A lot of people come in costumes and it really is a fun day for a great cause!

JOHN TOWER IS DIVING IN FOR OUR UNIFIED STUDENTS!
Join John Tower in the 2025 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics!
This fundraiser helps support our Unified students! Money raised will go towards our Unified events! These students have a basketball competition and a track meet in the spring that they will be participating in.
ALL TOWER students can drop money in the bucket of the staff member they want to see plunge! Anyone is able to scan the QR code and join John Tower in the polar plunge. It is $40 for adults and $25 for youth!
Join this cool event and help support our students!

Did you know that a fast-food hamburger contains at least 33 grams of fat, about half of the day's suggested intake?! We have guest presenters in PE this week from the Wichita County Health District teaching facts like this! Our students are learning the importance of healthy eating! Students will be coming home with a large paper on which "My Plate" is featured along with recommendations for healthy portion sizes!

Due to hazardous roads, especially in our rural areas, we will be cancelling school for tomorrow, January 10th. Roads will refreeze tonight and will not thaw before our buses would leave for their routes. We realize it will probably be clear by 11:00 am, but that is too late to get kids to school safely.
Stay Safe!

Due to hazardous driving conditions, BISD will not have school today. We will notify you later this evening about Friday's situation.
Stay safe!

Out of an abundance of caution, BISD will delay the start of school tomorrow, Jan 9th exactly 2 hours from our normal start times. Buses will run two hours later than normal. We will assess the situation again in the morning and will call if we need to cancel school. If we decide to cancel, we will call by 7:30am.

Some of our S2S members are pictured here after being honored at the Burkburnett School Board Meeting last night! Our S2S club has served our community at large and our school community with many acts of service and kindness this semester, and were recognized for their efforts last night!

Oh, the JOY our cafeteria staff brings to our students. They are so friendly and kind to the children, and they are very hard workers! Let's wish them a very Merry Christmas!

🎄 That's a wrap on the fall semester!
To all our amazing students - enjoy your well-deserved break! Time to rest, recharge, and make some great holiday memories. We've loved having you in class and can't wait to see your smiling faces back on campus on January 7th!
Have a fantastic holiday break! 🎉✨
