This past Saturday, we had 17 students participate in the Region 1 UIL Academic Competiton held at Texas Tech University. Dyllan Chavis placed 6th in Headline writing and is an alternate to the state competition. Delaney Reitz placed 3rd in Copy editing and earned advancement to the State UIL Academic Competition to be held at UT Austin on May 13th. The coach for Chavis and Reitz is Academic Coordinator Pam Francis.

Bulldog Biker Gang Summer Camp June 25-29th Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30-7:30 pm and Saturday at 8:30-9:30 am in the Bulldog Stadium parking lot, 801 Coulter Dr, Burkburnett, TX 76354. There will be more group rides over the summer to prepare riders for the HHH races. Please follow us on Facebook for later dates and times. Riders must have their own two-wheeled bike, personal helmet, and a bright shirt that they will bring to camp. Riders must wear bright clothing to be seen on the road. Bikes must be checked for fit by the coaches before the parent or guardian leaves. Rider's seats should be high enough for the rider to be on their tippy toes. This camp will teach safe street riding skills, bike handling skills, maintenance, and train for the HHH 10k or 25 mile. Riders will receive a bright training jersey, water bottle, drawstring bag, and a free ticket to ride in the HHH 10k race with an adult registration. The drawstring bag is for our riders to carry their water bottle. Many child size bikes are too small to attach a water bottle cage. The camp fee is $15. As a way to continue to provide opportunities for our community to provide feedback to our school district and superintendent, we will be hosting periodic town hall meetings through Facebook Live. We encourage you to submit your questions in advance by replying to the email associated with the post or comment on the FB post. Please keep all questions focused on policies, processes, or facilities at the district or campus level. Dr. Owen will not be answering any questions about specific personnel or student situations. Dr. Owen will give a district update and then answer your submitted questions. Dr. Owen will end the town hall with a live Q & A that will allow you to ask questions in real-time. BHS Guard Auditions are this week!!!

ATTENTION: We are having problems with drivers driving around our buses when they are stopped to pick up or drop of our students. When a bus is stopped with its flashers on and stop signs and arm extended, it is illegal to drive around them. Please stop and wait for the bus to resume its route. We conducted a random test of this last Thursday. We had 19 people drive around our buses while the flashers were on and students were being dropped off. This is extremely dangerous and is going to result in a student getting hit. We are notifying the local police department of this issue and violators run the risk of being pulled over and ticketed. We ask you to please be patient and wait for our buses to resume their routes. A student getting hurt or killed is not worth a couple of minutes. Thank you for your help in this matter.
