The Air Force Junior ROTC instructors and cadets of Unit TX-20008, Burkburnett High School in Burkburnett, TX and crosstown school cadets from Iowa Park High School earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards”… the highest rating attainable…during their evaluation on Mar 27, 2025. Major Rousseaux (Ret) and SMSgt Koby (Ret) created a dynamic and supportive learning environment coupled with an excellent community outreach. The instructors provided outstanding leadership in administering the cadet centered citizenship program. The Burkburnett High School cadets as well as the crosstown school cadets from Iowa Park High School performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals. The Burkburnett High School Air Force Junior ROTC citizenship program is making a positive impact on the cadets, the school and the surrounding community.  Top Performer Award recipients for SY2024-2025 awarded during the assessment were Cadet Major Mia Jackson and Cadet Second Lieutenant Arriana Samson.

Due to the crazy weather over the last 3 days, we were forced to postpone our baseball game vs Decatur on Friday 4/4. Our infield grass and dirt are still more than 50% submerged underwater. To ensure that we get the game in and do not push back multiple team's schedules in our district, we will be doing the following make up: Monday 4/7 v. Decatur Location- City View High School Time- 5:30 Varsity Only

Boomtown Babes Spring Show April 4 and April 5

BISD was proud to host resiliency influencer Brooks Gibbs. On Monday night, he delivered an inspirational message empowering BISD parents. The Boomtown Babes and BMS Choir performed, too!  Thanks to The River Assembly of God for providing hot dogs, BMS StuCo for providing water, and BMS S2S for serving free popcorn!  It was a stellar night, complete with tons of raffle prizes!  Dr. Gibbs also presented to BMS 6th and 7th graders, sharing about emotional resiliency.

We would like to thank all the sponsors who contributed to our raffle give away at the Brooks Gibbs Parent Seminar! Thank you for supporting Burkburnett ISD. We appreciate you!

BHS Menus for April

Last week we surveyed our elementary staff and elementary parents to see if they would be willing to add 10 minutes (5 min in the a.m. and 5 min in the p.m.) to the elementary bell schedule for the rest of the year beginning next Monday so that all students could get Good Friday (April 18th) off. The surveys had overwhelming support for this. This does not effect the secondary bell schedules as they are already longer. So, we will have April 18th off. See Calendar attached. Elementary parents: This does not alter any other part of the school day. The drop off times for parents in the morning will not be changed to an earlier time, but kids need to be at school no later than 7:40.

Last Saturday the Winter Guard had their NTCA Championships @ Marcus HS. We competed in RAA Classification and finished with a Division 1-Superior and 4th place in our round. We came out 16th highest score overall out of all 50 competitors of the day. The Guard also had two third place finishes in the regular season. Please congratulate a Winter Guard member if you see them, it was a tough season with very close scores at every single show. Below is a link to photos from the performance that day. You can tell what a great run they had by these photos! The Guard will perform the show one final time at the May 6th Spring Band Concert. Save the Date!
